23.5 channel balance to work with a 18-030 top sash guide

A quick learner from michigan says:
Hi, I don't have any window balance left in the old condo. How to choose the correct length? I searched this website and find out the sash guide should be 18-030, channel balance shoe 15-041, channel balance top 19-015. The length from the sash guide to the bottom channel corner is 23.5 inches.

Hello!

We can supply a balance with the 19-015 top and 15-041 shoe but it will have to be a custom order since this configuration isn't a stock item of ours. To determine the proper length, I will need you to write out the visible glass height. In addition to this, I'll need you to weigh your sash on a scale and tell me its precise weight.

I'm also a bit curious when you say there aren't any balances left. It seems like you know what hardware you need so I'd just like to know how you came to the conclusion that you need this configuration. I just want to make sure we're getting you the right hardware for the job since customs orders are nonrefundable.

Thank you!

Hi Emily,

Thank you for the reply.

I need to fix total 5 windows.
The balance length is equal to visible glass height? The weights are 22 lbs, 16.4 lbs, 16.8 lbs, 16.8lbs and 13.3 lbs.

I can only find a top sash guide that is left in the window, it is the same as 18-030. On 18-030 page it shows that it works with the 15-041 and 19-015. That is why I think this is the combination that I need.

Another evidence that I found is the marks in the window frame which are made by the friction of the window balance when open and close the window. I measured it and shows 1/2 inch. So I think I need the 1/2 inch window balance.

Thanks for confirming! The 18-030 top sash guide is a very, very specific part that's used on only one type of window so I think you're on the right track. With that said, it's a safe bet that the 19-015 top and 15-041 shoe are correct. While it may be a safe bet, it by no means a guarantee and custom balances cannot be returned for a refund. Just something to keep in mind.

Yes, the visible glass height will help us determine the correct balance length. Can you write out the visible glass heights for each of the windows you need, along with their corresponding sash weights?

Hi, it's 23 inches. How do I place this order?

Thanks for confirming! What I'll do now is email you purchase links and price quotes that you can use to place an order on our website for the following:

(2) 24" long balances with the 19-015 top, 15-041 bottom and 2340 stamp for a sash weighing 18 to 23 pounds

(6) 24" long balances with the 19-015 top, 15-041 bottom and 2330 stamp for a sash weighing 15 to 18 pounds

(2) 24" long balances with the 19-015 top, 15-041 bottom and 2320 stamp for a sash weighing 9 to 15 pounds

Please note, the 18-030 top sash guide will not be included in these links so you'll need to add that to your cart separately. If you have any questions just let us know right here on this page!
