Balances in windows on home in SC built in 2000. No markings on glass, sash, sills nowhere.

Upper sash doesn't move. Slides up and down and can open inwards and be removed.

Thank you for any help in finding replacement balances.

Your balances appear to be the discontinued crossbow style balance. We have been recommending our Series 795 Channel Balance as a replacement for them.

To confirm that these balances will be a situatable replacement, you'll need to confirm the dimeter of the spring tube. This measurement should be 1/2" but please let me know if it is 3/8" as this will need to be a custom assembly.

You’ll also need to confirm the length of the balances as well as the width of your bottom shoe. When obtaining the length, you will need to find an undamaged balance to confirm the length. Unfortunately, you will not be able to get an accurate length using a balance that has come apart. If you do not have one, I'll need to know the measurement for the height of the visible glass, only the glass you can see.

Regarding the pivot bar, I will need to see a photo of the exiting pivot bar completely removed from the bottom of the sash to make the best possible recommendation.

The last piece of information I'll need is the exact weight of the window. I'll need this to determine the correct stamp option.

Take a look video tutorial tagged below detailing this balance conversion.

Good afternoon.

I've been working with the customer that started this discussion.

She is on a bit of a time crunch to get these in so I figured to email you directly to help assist.

The customer provided more photos of what is needed. It is attached. As of now, it appears she needs to get 26 balances for the windows.

The sash is 16 pounds.

Let me know if you need more information to help identify the part that is needed.

Thank you.

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out! It seems the only piece of information I am missing is the length of an undamaged balance. Once I have that information, I'll be able to get you all set up with the correct replacements for the repairs.

If any of the windows are different in size, I will need to know the exact length of those balances and the sash weight for those as well.

In the meantime, the pivot bar looks like an older discontinued version of the 26-366 Vinyl Window Sash Pivot Part. I am confident this should be the right fit for the repairs but you'll need to be sure to double check the dimensions to confirm.

Balance without footer is 27.5" in length.

The pivot bar look like it measures 7/8 wide but the hole cut into the window for it accomodates up to 1/2" so the one you mention should fit fine. The rest of the pivot bar dimensions measure up the same.

Thanks for confirming this information. As mentioned in the video provided above, the measurement needs to be from the bottom shoe all the way up to the plastic tip at the top of the balance. Please see the video, starting at the 1 minute and 20 second mark for reference.

In your photos, the photo of the tape measurer does not start at the plastic tip and since it appears that this is a fabric tape measurer, the measurement may be slightly off.

I believe the actual length of the balance to be 29-1/2" but I am not confident, based on the photos provided. Can you confirm this?

Can you also confirm if the other windows are the same size as the ones these balances are being installed in?

It is actually 28.5". It has the P shaped hook at the top and not the metal clip, btw.

I did not include the p shaped hook in my measurement because it looked like the video didn't include that. But if I do, it's 29.5"

Thank your for confirming this information, the measurement does not include the hook. That said, you'll need the S795-28 Channel Balance with 28B Stamp option; this will support a sash weighing 12 to 18lbs.

To install these balances, you'll be able to use the 26-200 Balance Screw Plug and the 33-016 screw.
