Help to identify spring parts

Quick Learner from S.C.
Hi,
This is a dual spring unit from a Simonton window. No markings of any type are visible. The nylon shoe split apart where it mounts to the springs. What do I need to buy to complete this repair? I estimate the sash weighs about 20#, but I don't have a scale available right now.
Thanks!
Al

Hello, thank you for posting,

You have an older Simonton balance that is no longer made. We recommend converting to the 15-259 pivot shoe and Series 159 coils springs along with the 26-083 pivot bar. Please review the step by step video below that details the conversion. Let us know what you think and if you have any additional questions!

Good morning
Thanks for the perfect information! One more question; I measured the sash weight to be =25lbs. I measured one side spring force to be = 20lbs. So that's a total of 40lbs spring force for a 25lbs sash. I just want to verify that this sounds reasonable.
Thank you,
Al

Hi Al,

If the window sash weighs 25 pounds, you will want the coils to match this or else they will be too strong and the window will not close.

For a 25 pound sash, you can use (1) S159-12 coil on each side of the sash along with the 15-255 coil support. This coil can support 12.5 pounds. Together with the other side, that will get you to 25 pounds of support.

Please let me know if that clarifies everything up for you!
