Hello there John.

Thanks for reaching out to us! It looks like you ordered two of the Series 380 channel balances: one with the 2940 option and one with the 2970 option. Oddly, the balances from the same window have different stamps though. They should have identical stamps so whoever repaired this window previously likely used whatever they had on hand to finish the job.

With that said, we recommend checking an identical window to see if those balances have matching stamps or not. We'd also like you to weigh the window sash and tell us the precise weight. Furthermore, can you show us a photo of the inside of the metal channel where the innerspring connects to the pulley mechanism for the original balance?

Lastly, we will need to see a photo of an undamaged top sash guide removed from the window to narrow down some options.

The windows have a label that says Series:Mark 40/50 Premium STD - AAMA/NWWDA 101/ I.S. 2-97 - H-LC25/35-52X96.

I checked two other windows in the house which are the same size. One other window has a 29-7 & a 29-4 balance rod while another window that sits right next to the window that I want to repair has two 29-7 balance rods. Confusing?

When I installed your balance rods and tried to put the window down the plastic tip on each rod broke off. Additionally, I found a take out clip also broke. I am not going to try again and signed a proposal with a window repair person (who gave me a quote) to do the installation. Will Swisco accept the broken rods back for a full or partial refund?

Attached are photos of the original window and its balance rods.

Thank you

Thank you for confirming those details. That's very confusing and odd, yes. A pair of balances with the 2970 stamp is calibrated to support a sash weighing 39 to 42 pounds. We recommend you weigh the window sash to confirm. I'm afraid we cannot accept broken hardware for a refund, however. We do sell take out clips though which would be the 16-002. This part is sold separately. May we also see a photo of the inside of the metal channel where the innerspring connects to the pulley mechanism for the original balance?

Additionally, we have the Series 385 which is similar to the Series 380. The difference between the two is the depth of the bottom shoe as shown below.
