Screws don't seem to fit

I've been having trouble screwing in the handle to the lock. It's been really loose. I'm not sure if it's the screws being too small or the handle. The handle has been there a while and hasn't had any real issues before. I've also been having trouble locking and unlocking from the outside. It locks from the inside. I feel like this may have an easy solution that I'm not seeing.

When installing the 82-002K handle set you must first place the round plastic guide on the back end of the key cylinder. Place the handle set in the door and depress the inside locking button so that it line up underneath the back end of the key cylinder. Then install your screws. It's possible you didn't have the key cylinder set with the inside handle.
