Tilt Balances/Removal and Installation

Hello! This is a good question, since replacing the Series 751 balance can be tricky if you've never done it before.
To remove the balances, you must first tilt the sashes down and remove them from the window frame. After the sashes are removed, the balance shoes should be locked in place in the vinyl track. You'll need to take a slotted screw-driver and place it into the balance shoe, which will disengage the knife lock, and raise the shoe all the way up to the bottom of the balance. Make sure to keep a firm grip on the screwdriver or else the shoe will shoot up the track and potentially cause damage to the frame.
With the shoe fully retracted, you can safely pull the vinyl track from the window. It's usually secured via screws on the side of the frame, but sometimes they're simply pressure fit. With the vinyl track removed you then should be able to remove the balances by sliding them out from the top of the track.
I know it's a little tricky you might want a professional to do it who has knowledge of window repairs. Always remember safety first. Wear protective gear.
