broken casement window lock mechanism

Home Owner from DeKalb, IL
My son broke the handle on the window locking mechanism when he left it open on a bitter cold night. I need to replace it, but can't find the part number. The casement window is made by Truth Hardware. The only number I see is on the arm, #30744.

Hello,

I can't be sure with the lock still installed, but the 38-090 would be a good place to start. Take a look and compare the specifications below to determine if it would be a good fit. Thanks for posting!

Thank you. Are there instructions somewhere regarding how to get to the screws to take the old lock off?

We don't have instructions for this part, but some windows that use it, such as yours, have a piece of trim covering the installation holes as shown in your second photo. This is a horrible design and, unforutnately, the only way we've found to access them is to drill two holes in the piece of trim covering the screw holes to access and remove them. Keep in mind that you'll neeed ot make the holes large enough to remove the screw head.
