Vinyl tilt window sash/track ?

Home Owner from WI

Hi,

We hurst moved onto this 25 year old home and I need to replace the track on some of the wood/vinyl track windows. As you can see from the pic the track that I need are the side tracks that hold the sash in place and allow the window sash to move up and down and to be removed.

The only marking I can see on what I think is the balance spring is. 24 BD.

You've helped me a lot I. My last house and hope you can do the same for this née home

Thanks,

Howard

Hi, Howard!

We can help but we'll need you to remove an undamaged balance with the end attachments intact to compare to our inventory.

Thank you!

I took it apart.

There is no balance spring. The aluminum piece is just a spacer to fill the upper part of the sash track when the window is in the down position.

The window seems to be held up by the pressure of the track against the side of the sash.

Does this help?

I think the window may be made by NORCO. This is name that is on the window latch.

Does this help?

Windows haven't been designed to be held up by pressure alone since the 1920's. There were definitely springs in your window but were probably removed at some point.

If there's nothing in your window that you can show us for reference, then we recommend contacting the original window manufacturer. We can't help without a reference, unfortunately.

Thank you.....I'll take another window apart this weekend and see what I come up with

I'm pretty sure that the window which is a double hung , double glazed wood with aluminum cladding was made by Norco.
