more weight for channel balance

Question

if you purchase a channel balance that supports more weight than the window, does this = an easier open? it'll slide easier?  some of our balances are 'sticky' to open and do not slide smoothly.  or is this just a sign of the balances shelf life?

Hello,

We do not recommend purchasing a higher spring strength option than what your sash weight is rated for. It will not make the window easier to operate but could actually prevent it from closing all the way and eventually cause the balances to break prematurely. It may very well just be time for the balances to be replaced since they are not designed to last forever. Please let us know if you have any other questions!
