1/2" Wide CK5 CMC 6 Channel Balances

Quick Learner from Las Vegas, NV
Hi, I'm looking for a replacement channel. The channel length is 27" without the top or shoe attachments. The markings are 26-3 CK5 CMC 6. Hope this is enough info.

Thank you,

I think you might have a match for our S385-27. This comes with a 19-005 top and 15-004 bottom nylon fitting. As long as the dimensions of your nylon fittings match the ones we show for these pieces, then the S385-27 should work well.

I have the exact window described above. 26-3 CK5 CMC 6. I had a spare and already re-installed the window. I don't know which options to choose. When you say weigh the sash I'm guessing you mean the window. I'd just as soon not have to pull the window out again to weigh it. The window is 28 3/4 tall and 28 3/8 wide. Dual pane window. Can you tell me which option I need?
Thanks,
George

If your old stamp reads "26-3," then you likely can use our 2630 stamp option. However weighing the sash is the best way to confirm this, and is a routine and often necessary step in window repair jobs. I would highly recommend checking if only to confirm that the 2630 stamp is correct. These are precise systems and you want to avoid guessing if you can help it.

To clarify between the two terms, the "sash" is the glass panel that the balances are supporting. The "window" is everything, from the sash to the sill to the frame and everything in between.

Tom, Thanks for the quick reply. I have to go out of town for a few days but I'll pull the window when I get back. The house is ten years old and I have some larger windows. The nylon cord is what broke. They may be at their lifespan. I'll pull one of the larger windows and weigh it too. I better have some spares on hand for them too. So I'll get back with you.
Thanks again,
George

Tom, I finally got around to weighing the windows. THE 26-3 CK5-CMC 6 window weighs 13.5 lbs.

I pulled the bigger window. The balance is labeled 26-4 JJ5 CMC 50. The glass in that window weighs 21.5 pounds. If you can give me the proper options on each I'll get an order to you.

Thanks again.

George

Great, thanks for checking! So for the 13.5 pound sash, you can use the same option as you had before: 2630. Two balances with this stamp carry 13 through 19 pounds.

Similarly, the 21.5 pound sash can also use the same stamp: 2640, which carries 19 through 26 pounds.

Tom, putting in an order but my 26-4 JJ5 CMC 50 didn't bring anything up. Can you give me a cross match.
Thanks

Tom, I think I mis understood your reply. I think you mean use the S 385-27 but with the 2640 option??

Your stamp of "26-4 JJ5 CMC 50" isn't a product code. That only indicates the weight calibration, as we talked about previously. The only relevant numbers there are the "26-4" stamp, which is the same as our 2640, but the stamp is otherwise not used for identification and has no relation to any specific product code.

Balance Series is based entirely on the design of the top and bottom plastic fittings. You said when you posted here that your balance is identical to the original photos, for which I recommended the S385-27. I had assumed that this was the balance you were referring to.

However if you haven't checked that yet then that should be the first thing you do before you buy anything. I really don't know whether you have the S385-27 or something else, I was only going by the assumption that you looked at and agreed with my recommendation for the previous customer back in 2020.

Tom,
Thanks again. I pulled the bigger window out again and checked the plastic fittings. They are identical to the smaller window. Same manufacturer. The pictures of the fittings on your website look the same as my fittings and the 1 3/32 depth is a match. So I'm guessing 5he S385-27 with the 2630 and 2640 options will do the trick. Sorry for being a PITA.

Great! I'm glad it's a match. In that case our S385-27 with those two stamps should work perfectly well for your two applications.

Thanks for considering us and please don't hesitate to reach out if you had any other questions.
