27 inches long (metal part only) stamped on bottom end "FG", "B.S.I." and "2630". As you can see, one is missing it's guts.

Would it be to my advantage to order the next larger size? Would it help keep the window up better because it's more heavy duty?

We don't recommend straying from the stamp option on your original hardware. Choosing a spring that's too strong can make the window difficult to open, whereas one that's too light won't keep the window up.
