17-043 not compatible with Series 400

I purchased 20 springs (S400-34) and 20 brackets (17-043) a few weeks ago and am now trying to install them. Unfortunately, the brackets are not compatible with the springs. The picture of the bracket shows several measurements... but didn't show the measurement of the depth of the throat (for lack of a better word) which is too short to work with the springs. I need to exchange the brackets for one that is compatible but without that measurement on the bracket pictures, I don't know what I need. I've attached a picture to show the issue. The bracket throat looks like it is about 3/8" but I think I need one at least 1/2".

I'm surprised it didn't work for you. The throats of all our brackets like the 17-043, 17-010, or 17-025 are the same. If you need to move it out away from the sash, we have the 17-031, which is mounted on the bottom of the sash and can be placed at the distance you need. To make installation of the spiral balances to the bracket easier, I would recommend a tool like our 75-004 or 75-005.
