A handy person from Boston says:

Howdy!

I've been able to ID my spring balance cam pivots with sid of your great website!

I have Cam Pivots #17-093 on the windows and would like to know which type of spring balance I should order to replace them? Also what special tools i might need like spring charging tool?

Thx!

Greg

Howdy right back at you, Greg! We should be able to figure out which type of balance you will need, but first, we'll need to see a few photos of your current one removed from the window.

Howdy again!

I was able to remove window and see sash balances but couldn?t figure out how to remove them. It appears entire plastic frame needs to be removed?

The balance appears to be a block & tackle style? It is 39 3/4" long and has 3920 stamped on it.

There are no catch clips in slots- should there be?

There appear to be the cam pivots 17-093 attached to window frames. Any idea what make these are so I can figure out how to get them out??

Thx! Greg

Hey, Greg, hopefully I can help. For this kind of balance, you need to remove the side jamb liners, as you suspected. Once the top and bottom sashes are removed, the jamb liner should just come out. You may want to watch this video for more information.

Once the jamb liners are removed, you can remove the balances and show us a photo. I'd like to see a clear shot of the shoe at the bottom of the cord and how the balance installs to the jamb liner at the top. Thank you!
