Hi,
I'm trying to replace these sash balances that have no markings to indicate manufacturer. They may have been original to the windows. It's the only system evident, and doesn't appear to be a retrofit. The channels are 5/8" wide, and the balance is ~24 1/2 from top to bottom on a 27"-high sash.
Thank you for any guidance you can provide.
Regards,
Richard

Your balance isn't made anymore, but you can use our Series 500 to replace it. For your wood sashes, I specifically the 27" long version with a red tip. I also recommend a new 17-012 balance brackets to mount on the bottom of your sash. That will then connect to the S500-27 to get your windows functional. To install these balances, you would drop them from the top on the side of the sash. Use a 33-017 screw to attach the balance tubes at the top. Now, raise the sash and have someone hold it up while you attach the 17-012 bottom bracket with a 33-011 screw while the U-shape opening corrals the spiral. With your finger, bring up the spiral to the bracket and attach the 75-005 tool and turn the spiral clockwise three turns, then hook it to the fork of the bracket. Repeat the other side and try the sash. If sash creeps down, raise and hold up the sash and give the balances another turn or two. |
