1978 bathroom window control device

A handy person from St. Petersburg, FL says:
These window control units ALL break at the very top where the crank handle meets the screw device and ends up separating the screw device from the part that actually opens the three large pieces of glass that make up the window. Replacements are readily available in Home Depot, but selecting the exact and correct units from the many, many that are available seems to be a problem even for the people who sell them. What I need is clear and concise information from someone who sells them.

Hello there. Identifying the right awning operator replacement can indeed be a bit hairy. The first key is to make sure the hole pattern on the top and bottom tabs match up. The second is to make sure that the design of the link arm and the hole size at its end are the same. With that in mind, I suspect you might need either the 39-012 or 39-194. Compare both with your old hardware to see what matches best. Note that the overall length of the link arm isn't too important; some play is allowed.
