Question
Existing balances are ink stamped with
20 4 CX CMC 7
They are S385.
I measure the length as 21 inches (total metal channel length).
Does the ink mark indicate these are 20 inch units?
20" or 21"?

Nope. Sounds about right. Stamps starting with 20 are mostly for 21" balances. There are some balances where the stamp usually matches the length, but not Series 385 balances.
