2009 with Pella triple-pane double hung windows

Quick Learner from Greenleaf, WI

I built my house in 2009 with Pella triple-pane double hung windows. Nearly all of the rain weather strips on the bottom of the windows need to be replaced on 28 of my Pella windows. Would I order the 58-178 casement window rainstrip for my double-hung windows? For the 24" wide double hungs, would I just cut the 58-178 down to size? Are there any tricks to getting them inside of the groove so that they stay in the groove without shirinking and coming out of the groove? What would the cost be to replace all 28 of these?

Thank you,

Joe

Hello, Joe. I'm afraid I don't know what seal you have on your window. This is a photo identification service, so we would require photos of the original seal (removed and shown from the end profile) to verify if the 58-178 is correct.

What I can tell you is that the 58-178 can be cut, yes. As for installation, they should just push in and remain in the slot. There is no trick or secret to keeping them in the groove. If they're falling out, then either the groove itself is damaged in some way or it's simply not the right seal for the job.

All pricing can be reviewed on the 58-178 store page.
