26in channel Balance 26-4 BES CMG 54

Hello all,

My up/down sliding window got an issue recently and I could hear some strange "clunk" noise when raising it. Then I could see some issue with the channel balance.

See photos. The length is 26in and the balance reference is 26-4 EE5 CMC 54 per the photo. Also it seems to me that the little transversal rod where the spring was attached got broken.

So what do I need to order as a replacement part ?

Thank you for your help,

Best,

Fabruce

Hello,

We'd be happy to help but we'll need a bit more information to determine if your window uses our stock balances or if they would need to be a custom order. To confirm, we would need to see the connecting point between the spring and pulley system of an undamaged balance. Thank you!

What do you mean by the "connecting point between the spring and pulley system" ?

See an example of the spring and pulley connection we'll need to see to identify your balances below.

Unforutnately, this balance is too damaged to identify, which is why we would need to see the connecting point of an undamaged balance from the other side or an identical window in the house.

I will try to get a photo today of an undamaged balance.

In the meantime, why the "26-4 EE5 CMC 54" reference per my photo is not enough to determine the replacement balance ?

The stamp code on the metal channel only indicates the strength of the spring needed to support the weight of the window sash. Unforutnately, it does not indicate the correct replacement, which is why we need to rely on detailed photos to confirm the correct replacement.

Hello again,

Here are two photos : one to show some details on the broken part and another for the other side non broken balance. That was painful to do because I basically cannot remove the window as the inner shades have a frame blocking the window removal.

Let me know if that is better.

Best,

Fabrice

Thanks for getting back to us. Your new photos confirm that you have a special type of Caldwell balance that will need to be custom-ordered. We'll just need to confirm the quantity that you need, with the minimum being two, so send over an order link and price quote.

OK then, let's start with 2.

Waiting for your quote and the explanation how to do that order.

Best,

Fabrice

Sure but I would like to confirm one more thing before we send over your order link. These types of balances stamped with 26-4 would generally have a 27" long metal channel, not including the end fittings. We just want to cover all of our bases since these balances can not be changed or returned once the order is placed.

This is honestly such a pain...

Attached two more photos. Tell me what you read.

We apologize for the inconvenience but we appreciate you providing additional photos to ensure that you receive the correct replacement parts. Though it's tough to make out accurate dimensions, it does look like your metal channel is over 26". If so, see the order link and price quote we just emailed to you. Just let us know if you need anything else.
