2730 vs. 2740

Question

Can you change to a 2740 from a 2730 channel balance? Will it affect the slide of of a single hung non-tilt aluminum sash?

If you have a 2740 balance originally, then the 2730 option will be too weak. Your sash will be difficult to open in a best case scenario, and in a worst case scenario, it will close on its own after you walk away. I would not advise downgrading spring strength.

Conversely, if the spring is too strong then you run into the opposite problem. The sash will be difficult to close and could even drift up on its own.
