However, the metal channel should be 26-7/8" long. Can you double-check and confirm that for us? How many balances are you looking to replace?

Thank you! There should be two balances per sash, so if you have five windows that need replacements, you'd want 10 balances. I'm unsure if you need balances for the top window sashes, however.
