hey i need a few window balances but before i order them i would like to know if i could tell the shoe size by measuring the channel that the shoe slides into? all the shoes are broken from these particular windows so i cannot measure them but the channel is 1-1/4". does this mean i need the 1-1/4 shoe?

If the channel is 1-1/4" wide, then you should go with the 1-1/4" shoe, yes.
