29 9 40.6# Sash Replacement

Question

I have taken the non-functional balances out of my NUAIR single-hung window with 8/8 divided lites/grill (between the glass layers) installed in 2002. They have the numbers and letters 29 9 40.6# 23"LT LU CMC.

The lower moveable sash visible double layer glass is 28" high. The glass width of this same lower sash is 48".

I would like to replace the upper fixed sash as one layer of the glass has a hole in it. The visible glass size is also 28" high, but the width is 49.5"

Thanks for your photos. Based on what I see here, you have either our S380-30 or S385-30, depending on the depth of the bottom shoe. That's the only difference between them. I recommend measuring your shoe and referring to our dimensions to confirm the best match.

As for the stamp, yours indicates a sash weight of 40.6 pounds. If that is accurate then I would recommend the 2970 stamp option for either balance, which carries 39 through 42 pounds. You may want to weigh your sash just to be 100% sure that this is correct. Better safe than sorry.
