32-9? What Stamp Option do I Need?

A quick learner from Gilbert, Arizona says:
I need the S385-33 Channel Balance but my weight stamp says "32-9 JX CMC 7" It's for a Milgard window.

What weight do I need to order?

Thank you,

Hello there. This is a fairly common issue. Stamp codes ending with '9' are from an older rating system that we do not use. To know what stamp option to select, you will need to obtain the exact weight of your window sash. You can then match that weight with one of the weight ranges listed alongside each stamp option on the product page.

A handy person from California says:
Mine is a Milgard window with a 32-5 stamp. Do you have a way to cross reference. The window is a long way away and they do not have ability to weight the window.
Also have a 19-3 stamp Milgard window I need balancers for.

Please understand the stamps are not identification codes. They only indicate the strength of the spring. In your case, a 32-5 stamp isn't uncommon; we have dozens of balances with a 3250 stamp, which works just as well.

If you don't know what your Series is, though, then you need to remove the balance from the window and compare its top and bottom nylon fittings to those balances we have in our catalog. There's no number, stamp, or sticker that will tell you what the Series is. You have to go by its physical details.
