35 inch balance 27 lb. window Won't stay up. The balances are not staying in window.

Only thing on back of balance is a metal clip at bottom of balance.

It sounds like the springs in your balance are broken. See our S385-25 channel balance, I think this would be a good match. You may also want to watch the videos I've related to this page. I think you'll find them to be a big help.

Here are the 2 springs... one is shorter?
Nothing looks broken.
At top of track is a flat silver piece, is this what holds top of balance?

Ah, I see. I'm glad you sent us this new picture. This is called a top sash guide, and when it breaks the balance shoots up to the top of the track. This would account for why your window won't stay up. You can see our entire selection of top sash guides here. I also recommend watching the video below for more information.

So which top sash guide do I use? There are a couple that look close to the pictures I sent in my last post?

Our 18-166 may be a possibility, but I can't be 100% sure without knowing your dimensions. Carefully look over the measurements we show for the 18-166 and compare them to your part. If they differ in any way, let me know how.
