36-004-22 2 bar hinge set

Hi,

I purchased a 36-004-22 hinge set. I am wondering how I can release the hinge arm from the hinge track so that I can screw the hinge track on the wood frame first. Thank you.

Hello there. You should be able to use a slotted screw driver to disconnected the sash hinge arm from the stud bracket on the base. You would just put the slotted head under the sash hinge, right before where it connects to the stud and gently pry upward to get it loose. You have to do this on the upper and lower hinges before carefully removing the window sash. Note too that before any of this, you'll want to disconnect any window operator's arms from the sash as well. The video below goes into more detail on this process. It covers the steps for the 10" 36-048, but I am fairly certain these principles apply to the 36-004-22 as well. Let me know if this doesn't work, or if you have any other questions.
