How do you measure the "fork" for this style lock?

Home Owner from WINOOSKI Vermont
Hello,

I recently purchased and received a Roto Multi-Point Lock, 37MM Fork window lock. However, it's smaller than the broken part I am trying to replace. I incorrectl measured the fork from the metal housing rather than just the fork.

Can I return and exchange the part? If so, do you stock any latches with forks that are longer than 37mm's? all other dimensions and sizing match the part i am trying to replace.

Attached are images showing my existing, broken latch and the 37mm fork.
Thanks.
Best regards,
Andy

Hey, Andy! To measure this kind of lock, you don't just measure the fork itself. Rather you measure what I call the "projection;" this is the distance from the tip of the fork to the lip on the bottom of the base.

I know that might sound unclear, so hopefully the diagram is a little more clear for you. I'll use the 38-139 as an example. Can you tell me what this measurement is on your original part?

The fork measures 1 7/8"

Perfect, thanks! How about our 38-096? This appears to be closer to your original fork projection. Look it over and see what you think!
