Question

I ordered this part to see if it would replace to T handle which was too large after adding slate to window sill. It works, turns the crank, but is too big to fit.

Photos attached of the window crank area, the folding replacement and the original T, the opening is 3/8" and the folding is bigger. I csn't tell if they attached correctly because I can't see them

Window are older, house built 1987
