40-028 left or right

Question

Cannot get the right inside handle to rotate to the left. Have two doors across from each other. If we turn it around one looks upside down. Confusing.  Also does the latch have to be off centered to latch .

I'm afraid this is the only in-swing handle set we carry. They are only made this way and you will have to install one of them up side down depending on how the door opens.
