40-033 pushbutton gets stuck

Question

I have a 40-033 handle with a 40-117 inside latch. If you push in the door button it will get stuck and not pop back out. Any ideas? Spindle too short? Thanks for your help.

I agree, it sounds like the spindle may be too short. I would compare the new and old spindles to confirm.
