5.5 coil balance

Thanks for posting. Some older coil balances were made to have very long travel, as they were installed at the very top of the window. I'm afraid they are simply no longer made this way. What you could do is install the coil spring cover lower on the window track. We recommend bringing them down with the springs just below where the top tilt latches would be when the window is closed. That way, the tilt latches won't hit the coil spring cover. The window won't raise quite as high as it used to, but it will still close. Let us know what you think.
