Located on top and bottom of the window. The same part # on each part. The window was bought in 1996.

The part is 7 1/2 inches long by 1/2 inch wide. The arm sticking up is 5 1/2 inches long by 1/2 inch wide.
Numbers on part that is on the bottom of the window is 6296 and A6R.

Take a look and compare the specifications of the 36-048 hinge set to yours, which comes with a hinge for the top and bottom of the sash. Thanks for posting!
