How long is the leg of the clip without the screw hole. I'm look for it to be at least 1/2".
Also, is it available in stainless. I'm on the water and concerned with corrosion.

As stated on its product page, the length of the 70-017 is 3/4".
Take a look at the 70-014 stainless steel clip, instead. The height is only 7/16" so you might need to install a washer under the leg to build it up to the height you need, but it would be easier to do that then to try to use something longer.
