82-002

Hello,

7/8" is a bit small for the 82-002. My concern is that the two halves may bump into each other in the door frame when installed. The 82-002 is designed for 1" to 1-1/8" thick doors. We can't guarantee its efficacy for doors outside of that range but you're welcome to give it a try. If you run into any problems, our return policy can be found here.
