82-008 not latching to door keeper

I received 5 Daryl Patio sliding door Handles, 6 5/8" (82-008) and 5 Patio Door Lock Keeper,3/4 " wide from you . While the handles fit into the door nicely, they don't latch to the door keeper - even with moving the keeper up and down. The frames are by Al-Can which I think is out-of-business. I think the problem may be that the opening in the Al-Can door is 5/8 from the edge in the horizontal plane. Perhaps the part needs the edge to be < 5/8th (just a guess). I prefer the use the parts, but need them to work. Thanks.
