82-055K installed well, but i can't lock the door!

New keyed door handle installed all holes lined up perfect but can not lock door! now what can I do? please make a suggestion.

Thanks for posting. There's a tail on the end of the key cylinder, which needs to be inserted into the hole in the back of the internal diecast latch. Unfortunately, you may have cut yours too short, so that it won't reach that internal diecast latch. Please examine your handle to see if this is, indeed, the case. If so, please take a look at our 82-310 Key Lock for a replacement cylinder for the 82-055K.

Dave, the problem isn't with the key,key works fine but will not catch in door jam. seems too short. Could 82-055K be a newer model, House built in 1985

I would check to see if the sliding door handle rail or the jamb is plumb. That could be causing it to not catch on the keeper. Please let me know.
