Question

Hello, I recently purchased a 82-086 - Legacy Keyed Handle Set from you. The handle set fits the door and works with the lock, but I have 2 problems with the product. Problem 1) They key will not come out of the lock. I've tested in both the locked and unlocked position, but the key will not come out no matter which position I try. Problem 2) When I tighten the door handle firmly to the door, the key becomes very difficult to turn. Are there any solutions to these problems?

Hello,

First I believe the key is out of "sync". I come across this issue also when installing key locks in doors. I suggest removing the key cylinder and turning the key in a different direction to try to get it back in sync. Secondly, it sounds like the key "tail" is too long. Maybe that is why when you tighten up the screws the cylinder binds. Take a look at the video on installing a "key lock" on a patio door. See if that will help you with your installation.
