does it matter if the hook is down?

looking at your product 82-211 mortise lock , can you tell me does it matter if the hook is down in your picture or hooks up? My current hooks up and wonder if it was installed wrong ? Thank you for your help on this.

Personally, I prefer having the hook point up. Sometimes it makes a difference, sometimes it does not. That said, this lock should not matter at all because the keeper fits firmly inside the lock keeping the door from being lifted.
