83-115 - Pella Latch

Question

The screen door is probably 25+ years old. The finger loop on the left of the uploaded photo broke off (where rthe red line is) so I ordered the replacement part. However, it seems that I can't access that part because the latch housing assembly is actually pressed into the wooden frame with no apparent way to disassemble and remove/replace the latch.

If there is a way, please share. Thanks!

Hello there. If I follow correctly, you're having trouble replacing the latch because you have to remove the screen door handle first--it probably looks like something like the 83-123. Is this right? If so, don't worry, there's a way to do this. Pella conceals the fastener to remove the handle beneath the circular Pella logo on the handle facade. You'll need to carefully remove that circular cover with a screwdriver or putty knife. You should then see a screw you can loosen to remove the handle and replace the 83-115 latch.
