What is trick to REINSTALLING, not removing.

Sometimes the hole is blocked by the broken rivet. Stick an awl in the hole to make sure it's clear. You should be able to remove it after that. To install a new one, slide the "W" shaped spring into the door opening until the rivet finds the hole.
