ACORN DORWAI key lock

Except for ACORN DORWAl I didn't see any other name. Is it possible to add a key lock or do I have to buy another one. If yes, please let me know the model number.

Thanks for posting, Nadir! I actually tried out a couple key cylinders with the same old style handle you have here. None of them were a smooth fit, to be honest, and you might be better off replacing the whole handle set. Take a look at our 82-055K Keyed Acorn Handle Set and see what you think.

Hi Dave,

I just bought the 82-055K Keyed Acorn Handle Set...I was installing it, and noticed that the pivoting latch is not long enough to catch the door jam hook, therefore the slider does not lock properly.

Also,the slider is 1 1/4 " thick. I would have to cut the key shaft to make it work...another approach I took was taking the key assy. apart, to see if I could adopt it to the original handle but later found out that it was a mistake to do that. It's all apart now...I'll have to buy another Key Assy. Do you have any other options on this ordeal?

Hmm, I'm not sure what the problem may be. The key cylinder is held in with a spring clip only. Maybe try depressing the clip and reinstalling the cylinder. Could that work?

Thanks for the advice. I received and had the handle installed and all is well except I was expecting both handles but I got only the right door handle with a key. As they it is different from the old one, please give the model number to order for the other side.

Hey, Nadir. Thanks for getting back to us. Glad to hear it worked. These handles can work for either the left or right side, you just have to flip them over. Sorry for the confusion.

The 82-055K can work for both the left and right sides. You would just have to turn the handle over and adjust the insides so that they're the right side up.

Are you telling me that I cannot get one that is just a handle without the little lever in the middle? (similar to the old one in the photos)

Unfortunately, no. We do not carry this handle without its insides.
