Acorn DorWAL Handle

Question

Hello!

I was wondering if this handle (82-003) would work? The lock seems to be broken and there is no latch. Hoping to replace the whole handle as it?s very old.

Also, do you know what the holes on the top of the door used to hold? The safety latch?

There are two handle sets that could presumably replace yours: either the 82-003, which has a 3-15/16" hole spacing, or the 82-055, which has a 3-1/2" hole spacing. You need to measure your hole spacing to confirm the better match.

I'm afraid I don't know what once installed at the top of this door. Looking at the hole pattern it could have been a security lock of some kind, yes. Like a bolt that locks to the top. That's just an educated guess, though. Acorn has been out of business for a long time. Whatever it was very well may not be around anymore, unfortunately.
