Acorn clip replacement

Home Owner
Hi, I moved into a condo and the windows have Acorn clips and they are all broken. Can you help me identify which part I need?

Hello! This part is called a tilt latch. Yours appears to be a dead ringer for our 26-169, but look it over and see what you think!

Awesome thank you! I have a couple other issues-- the window won't stay up either. seems to be some sort of issue with the spring system. Can you help me with finding the part for that?

Yep, that sounds like an issue with the balance assemblies. They're what regulates the operation of the window.

I'd be happy to identify a match, but I'll need a clear photo of the originals in order get started. Seeing them removed from the frame would be preferable, but at the very least I need a clear photo of the top and bottom ends without obstruction. Would that be possible?

I can see that you have a type of spiral balance, which is a good first step. However I still need a clear photo of the top and bottom ends, as requested previously. In your case, I especially need to see the end of the spiral rod at the bottom.

Thanks! This appears to be a typical spiral balance. Maybe on the older side, but not by much. That means you only have to pick from two options: either our 3/8" diameter Series 900 or our 9/16" diameter Series 600. Your next step should be to measure the diameter of the outer tube to determine the best option.

I also see that your pivot shoe is broken. That means you won't be able to remount the sash, so they definitely need to be replaced. A strong possibility for a match is our 15-015, but you'll have to remove one of the originals and see how well its dimensions match before you buy it. Width and thickness are paramount. Height, not so much.

Hi-- I got all of these parts for my window and they fit great. I believe i got the 3/8 series 900 and the pivot shoe. They all fit perfectly, however, the window won't stay up in the shaft. it slides down about 3/4 every time. Not sure why when everything is the same-- I've had my handyman look at it several times too and he says it's all installed correctly. Any tips?

Have you seen our video below on installing these balances? They do require charging with a tool like the 75-006. You could try adding one or two additional turns to see if it will support the sash.

I'd also suggest weighing the window sash to confirm it falls within the 7 to 21-pound range supported by the red tip options you choose.

Additionally, the bug screens in my windows are all broken-- do you guys have replacements for those?

We do not carry replacement screens, but we carry replacement screen mesh. You're welcome to look through our selection here
