Acorn sliding door handle

Hey, Rob. Where are you running into problems, exactly? The 82-055 has a straight-forward installation. You just screw it on the door. I'd say the only trick is getting the hook latch into the door cut out. Are you sure the 82-055 is the handle you need? Could it be your door is too thick? The 82-055 is only meant for the standard 1" thick Acorn patio door with 3-1/2" installation hole spacing. If your door is thicker, you will need to re-use your old hook lock.
