Hello,
I purchased S351-30 channel balances and even though I installed them correctly, the shoot upwards and out of the top of the glass frame when I close the frame. I noticed that all my window frames have a plastic piece at the top. Most are broken. Do these help retain the balances?
Thank you,
Troy

Hello Troy. Yes, these are called Top Sash Guides. When they break, often due simply to wear and tear, the channel balance shoots past the sash and lodges in the top of the window jamb. We carry many different Top Sash Guides which you can view here, and many different ones can work with Series 351 balances. To know which one you might need, please remove an undamaged one and show us pictures of it from the front and side. We should be able to narrow it down for you from there. The video below shows how to remove and replace Top Sash Guides.

Bob,
Thank you for responding.
I believe I found the correct top guide.
18-187 looks like a winner.
