Advice on No or damaged take out clips

Hi. I need to replace the balances and many of my windows either don't have take out clips or they are damaged such as bended up. Some windows seem to have just a screw where the take out clip should be. Any advice?

Your best bet would be to replace the take out clips in all instances. Whether they are missing or damaged, replacement will fix the issue.

As for the screws, that's a little trick installers use when a take out clip is missing, but they need to replace the sash ASAP. When a screw sticks out of the track like that, it acts the same as a take out clip by catching the balance when you open the window. You're supposed to remove them after, though, otherwise they'd keep catching the balance during normal operation.
