Alcan windows

Quick Learner from Sherbrooke, Quebec
Burglars entered our house by forcing open a basement casement window on Christmas Eve.

I am looking for replacement parts for the window's mechanism.

I have found an aluminium printed strip on the bottom half of the sash indicating the following:

Alcan Building Products, Alcan Canada model 5000 (maybe 5500?),norm 63-GP-8M, 1058, level 84 (or 80H?).

the aluminium arm (tie bar) that connects the window frame to the cranking mechanism has been bent and distorted by the tool used by the burglar to gain entry and has to be replaced. There are two parts that look like scissors. I require the longer of the two which has the roller that goes into the rail on the underside of the window frame.

I could provide you with pictures if needed.

Please let me know if suitable parts are still available. The house was built in 1960. I am not certain, however, if these were the original windows installed or replacement ones installed at a later time.

I thank you for your help.

Hello Patrick. I am so sorry to hear about your recent incident. We would love to help you any way we can with a replacement. I think the best way to go about this would be for you to send us some photos of the part in question. We would like to find a replacement that is a close match to what you have.
