Alcoa window balance

Home Owner from Reynoldsburg OH
We have the same window as described above. The blue "cap" broke off in the cleaning process so the window came off track. We were able to fit the window back in without the cap, but the spring "sprung" in the process when the cap broke. What needs to be replaced: just the cap or the whole tube? The window is 62.5" by 32.5". Is there someone in the Columus area that can service the window?

Thanks for writing in. I am afraid I am having a little trouble in identifying the part you are describing. Would you be able to send us a few photos of the part in question? We'd like to see if we can identify it and see if we offer a replacement for it.

The blue cap broke off the end of the right side rod (facing outside through the window). The spring holding the cap "sprung". We were able to lift that rod so the window could be placed back into the track. Is this repairable or does the window need to be replaced?

I see what you mean. You certainly don't need a new window, but you will need a new balance. Is this a tilt window? If so, measure the diameter of the outer tube. If it's 3/8", I recommend our Series 900. If it's 5/8", I recommend our Series 600.

The outer tube is 5/8 inch diameter. With that blue cap on the end which is broken off, what all needs to be replaced?

Series 600 sounds great. Just measure the length of the tube to choose a balance length!
