Alenco 3753FL balance sash rod
Rod is ribbed. 1/2" wide and 1/2" deep. want a complete rod with bot connectors attached.
Thanks for reaching out to us. This is an older style balance that is unfortunately not made anymore. The good news is that we can still help, but there are a few complications that you have to note.
The first complication is that our replacement balance will not include that metal clip that you show in your final two photos. This clip is totally obsolete and not possible to supply in any capacity. You will have to reuse it, so don't throw it out! Keep hold of it for use in the new assembly.
The second complication is that our balance can only be supplied as a custom order. The base design is actually identical to your original, except that ours comes with a plastic "T" shaped shoe at the bottom instead of that obsolete metal clip. The shoe can just be popped off and discarded so that you can install the metal clip in its place. It's a very simple procedure.
Is this something that would interest you? If so, I just need two pieces of information before we go any further:
- Can you show me a clearer photo of the metal clip at the top end of the balance? This is the one attached to the cord. I can't quite make out if it's a hook or a screw tab.
- Can you tell me how many you wanted to buy?
Once I know that, I'll email you a purchase link and price quote that you can use to place an order on our site.
I can remove the good rod from the window.
If so, please send me mailing information.
Would it be possible to get the good one returned after your inspection.
I'm afraid that's not a service that we provide. We do accept samples, but we aren't able to mail them back.
I don't believe it to be necessary, anyway. I am very familiar with your balance design and am confident that we can help. We have a high success rate when it comes to replacing these. All I need are those two pieces of information requested above. It will be a lot faster than sending us a sample, and a lot less expensive, too.
Two neighbors have broken balance rods.
Right now I would order three.
Is there a quantity where the price per rod is lower?
I live in a 55+ community with similar homes. I will send an email blast once I get a price to see if others have the same issue.
Plan B: You stated you have a rod with a plastic "T". We have the 15-134 pivot shoe. Will this "T" work in place of our pivot shoe?
Perfect, thank you! This is exactly what I needed.
What I'll do now is email you a purchase link and price quote that will let you add 2 balances to your cart. These will have a 28" long, 3/8" wide ribbed metal channel with a 28B stamp. It will have a hooked clip at the top and a 15-230 shoe at the bottom; the plan is for you to remove that shoe once you get it and slip on that metal tab from your original balance. Aside from that shoe, the construction of our balance should be functionally identical.
As for whether the 15-230 "T" shoe will replace your old shoe, I'm not so optimistic. It's a little bigger, being 7/16" thick and 1" wide. That's not a huge difference but it's enough that it might hang up in the track, if not get outright stuck. In a worst case scenario you could potentially shave the plastic of the new shoe down so that it fits a little better, but that's always a risky proposition.
In addition to that, the old shoe and the new shoe are compatible with entirely different pivot bar styles. The 15-230 "T" shoe is meant to be used with something like the 26-448. It's possible to swap that out with your old pivot bar, but you'd have to be sure you have the room for it.
So, in summary, my answer to your question is: "maybe, with some work." However I personally wouldn't place bet on it. If I were you, I would do your best to reuse the old style shoe if at all possible.
