Alenco double hung window part

Handy Person from Houston Texas

Have a house built in 1997 with Alenco aluminum double hung windows. Trying to locate a parts list or detail of these windows so I can order sill gasket material. Also have 2 of these windows that the spiral "springs" have pushed out thru the bottom.

Are there drawings or parts list available for these windows that I can order the gaskets from and can the "springs" be replaced on an installed window?

Thanks-Jerry King

Hey, Jerry. I'm afraid we haven't been able to find a replacement for this bubble seal. The closest we have is our 58-053, but I can't confirm if this can work for you or not. The kerf might be too long. That said, look it over and see what you think. You may be able to adapt it to work.

As for the spiral balance, it looks like you have non-tilt windows. There could be a bunch of different replacement options for this, and I'm not sure what is best. If you are able to remove it from the window and show us the bottom of the spiral, in addition to any bracket or shoe there, we should be able to identify it.

To remove this spiral balance, have someone hold the sash up while you disconnect it from the bottom. Then, lower the sash, unscrew the balance from the jamb, and try to pull it out from the top. I suspect your sashes aren't made to be repaired or have their hardware replaced, so it may be tricky, but it is possible.
