Alenco tilt out window track

Quick Learner from Colorado

These windows seems to have these pivot points for the tilt out panel that are not horizontally even. This one is literally an inch lower on the left hand side compared to the right hand side.

We need to know how to get them both aligned again so window will raise and lower easily.

We know the windows are alenco, single hung tilt out. The home was built in the mid 1980's.

Hello! If I'm understanding the issue correctly, it sounds like the pivot shoe on one side of the window is at a higher position in the track than the other. Is that correct?

If so, it's easy enough to fix. You just need to take a flathead screwdriver, place it in the center cam, and turn it. That will unlock the shoe and allow it to slide freely in the track.

Just note that the minute the shoe is unlocked, it will try to shoot up in the track back to the balance; that cord is going to retract with potentially 10-20 pounds of pressure. Keep a firm hand on the screwdriver and make sure the shoe stays in place after it's unlocked. You want to slide it up gently to where it needs to be and then lock it in place again.
